(March 1st, 2010)

General
  • - Added Windows 7 support
  • - Supports DyKnow 5.2 client, though using the new features requires 5.3, DyKnow 5.1 is not supported
  • - Improved support for Netbooks using 1024 x 600 display
Vision
New Features
  • - Embedded Content: Added the ability to directly embed web content by using embed tags from web applications when inserting a web page on a panel. Note: If the Moderator attempts to play embedded content, Participants who do not have Flash installed will receive an error.
  • - Lock "Follow Me": Added the ability for the Moderator to lock "Follow Me" so that Participants are unable to navigate away from the Moderator's panel.
  • - Add Private Notes during Replay: Added the ability for users to take private notes during panel replay.
  • - Participant Timer Display: Added the option of displaying the timer on Participant machines.
Usability Enhancements
  • - Added a list of the top 10 most recently used files to the Application Menu.
  • - Added a notebook auto-save feature which will recover files if DyKnow closes unexpectedly.
  • - Added the ability to Preview animation used in a Session notebook. Previously, only Replay showed these animations.
  • - Increased the default pen size from 2 to 4.
  • - Added ability to retain font size and color from one poll to the next during notebook preparation.
  • - Improved embedded poll resizing and text wrapping capabilities.
  • - Improved the random selection capabilities of Panel Retrieval.
  • - Improved version checking and logging capabilities when importing a PowerPoint presentation.
Resolved the Following Issues
  • - When retrieving panels, the total number retrieved was off by one if the first panel for more than one Participant was blank.
  • - In some circumstances, iGoogle caused a DyKnow error.
  • - Losing internet connectivity while on the My DyKnow page caused DyKnow to freeze.
  • - Lists with font size larger than 22 would go off the left edge of the panel.
  • - Setting the default Private Note’s background in the Options dialog did not save the preference.
  • - The animation timeline did not clear in some circumstances.
  • - Images like equations could not be pasted into a text box.
  • - In some circumstances, ending a session with audio saved the audio to the server without the notebook attached.
  • - During notebook creation a poll could be marked Private if using Private Ink.
  • - The Participant background button became enabled during a session.
  • - Occasionally editing the font size of an embedded poll implied the font size did not persist.
  • - Resolved an issue where the dashed line as the default line type did not work properly in some circumstances.
Monitor
New Interactive Monitor Features
  • - File Request: At the Moderator's request, Students may submit up to ten files to the Moderator. The maximum file size must be under the maximum set by the institution. The default size limit is 6 MB.
  • - Broadcast Screen: Added the ability for the Moderator to initiate a Screen Broadcast of the Moderator's screen to Students. Note: The new Monitor Screen Broadcast and File Request features are mutually exclusive - only one may be active at a time.
  • - Chat: Added the ability for the Moderator to initiate a Chat session with monitored Students. When initiated, this feature initiates a stand-alone Chat dialog on each Student's machine, so the DyKnow client is not required.
  • - Students cannot close the Chat dialog. Only when the Moderator turns Chat off does the dialog close.
  • - Students may copy the content of the Chat window by right-clicking in the dialog.
Usability Enhancements
  • - Rearranged the Monitor tab to accommodate new features and improve usability of common features.
  • - Enhanced the Monitor initialization process to more accurately show the loading of thumbnails in the Moderator's Monitor view.
  • - Changed the Application Blocking Set up Plans dialog to use the same format as Open Applications.
  • - Improved the ability of the Open Applications dialog to include all applications from the Start Menu.
  • - Set the scroll position to be retained as users join a session instead of reverting to the top of the list.
Resolved the Following Issues
  • - Improved error handling when blank thumbnails received.
  • - Improved View Screen update detection for Windows 7 and Vista machines when using the Attention feature.
  • - Resolved an issue that allowed the input device to remain locked when Attention applied/released very quickly.
  • - Resolved an Application Blocking issue where Recently Used Plans did not synchronize with Global plans if the default plan had not been set.
  • - Resolved an issue that caused an IE crash on some HTTPS pages.
  • - Resolved an issue with one Moderator starting a Monitor session that another Moderator had been running.
  • - Resolved an issue where the Monitor button failed to reset if the Monitor session was taken by another Moderator.
  • - Resolved an issue where stealing a Lab ended the Monitor session for the Moderator, but did not end the session on the Server.
Both Vision and Monitor
Chat
  • - Added support for foreign language character usage in both Vision and Monitor Chat.
  • - Added a user preference for the default chat state when starting a Session.
  • - The Vision default when installed is "Participant to Moderator" while the Monitor default is "Chat Off." Tip: As a best practice, set either Vision or Monitor chat in an active state to start a session, but not both.
  • - Resolved an issue where using the quick buttons to print or save attendance did not correctly use the attendance requirement set in the Admin console.
QAT
  • - Resolved several issues with the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT):
  • - Removed an unassigned category that included Broadcast Screen and Recently Used Files.
  • - Buttons with options repeated the option a second time.
  • - Resolved issues with adding the following to the QAT: Text Editing > Font Family, Text Editing > Font Size and Poll Editing > Font Size.
  • - QAT - Resolved an issue where Undo, when added to the QAT, did not become enabled as it should.
