Educators are actively seeking effective ways to integrate technology into their classrooms in 2021. However, technology integration looks different for everyone based on their level of capabilities and level of support provided by a school. In this article, we will give you some insight on how to make the technology integration process as seamless as possible. In a recent conversation with Dr. Josue Falasie, he described what effective technology integration will look like in 2021.

3 Steps to Effective Technology Integration

Step 1: Do your research

For educators who are not familiar with technological tools or technology integration, this transition can be very confusing, challenging, and taxing. Make sure that efficient research is conducted to make sure that all options have been considered. During the age of remote and hybrid learning, many new technological tools have surfaced that educators themselves have designed to make this journey easier for all. Take time to assess all options in order to provide effective tools for all stakeholders.

Step 2: Involve all stakeholders

Administrators may have the final say in which tools will work best for their school, but admins do not always work directly with these technological tools every day like students, teachers, and tech coaches. It is imperative for the leaders in an organization to involve every single person who may be using this technology to find out what benefits them the most. Having input from tech experts and teachers who know their level of capabilities with the new tools will set up the technology integration process to be most effective.

Step 3: Teamwork and Support

As educators immerse themselves in the new technology, the support of tech coaches is crucial to make the transition effective. Tech coaches have an increasingly important role in the classroom to make sure that teachers, students, and parents are well apt to use the technology. Teachers also have to lean onto tech coaches to help them to utilize the technology as best they can to create effective lessons for their students.

A whole school transition is unable to happen without the support of every single person involved. Make sure to support each other in a time of uncertainty and progression. Josue stated, “It’s about collaborating as a community and a school/district to make sure that technology integration will be effective.”
